Nachtstudio Gallery
Exhibition Architecture / Spatial Art

In 2016, the Nachtstudio gallery opened inside a generous loft at Maximiliansplatz, located at Brienner Straße 14, Munich. Serving as creative director and architect, Suzanne Faltenbacher developed the spatial design, translating the brand's corporate identity into a comprehensive Spatial Artwork.

The signature DNA of the floor-to-ceiling white thread installation was evolved from the flagship stores and integrated into the spacious exhibition loft. The architecture was engineered to display the collections in their entirety for the first time. Created exclusively for the gallery are custom-tailored couture bed models crafted from premium materials, a cashmere collection, and a minimalist, Japanese-inspired companion furniture line. The latter includes a bed model with integrated freestanding sculptural pieces, a chest of drawers made of soaped ash with seamlessly concealed leather handles, and a bench featuring a hand-stitched decorative seam upholstered in a premium silk-wool fabric. The production of these limited-edition objects demands the highest level of artisanal craftsmanship from the entire workshop team.

Suspended directly above is a large-scale, site-specific installation: composed of fine steel cables and silver nails, it generates a 6.3-meter-long and 3.6-meter-high matrix of lines and fluid, shimmering landscapes.

Every single furniture piece for the reception and the display of bedding and accessories was designed as a unique specimen. The workspaces are organized within an open, cubically shaped room-in-room element. While the interior of this cube is functionally equipped with drawers and cabinets, its exterior shell facing the exhibition floor presents a monolithic, matte-lacquered surface finished in a sophisticated yellow-green hue with precise joint lines. Along the 20-meter panoramic window front, transparent, floor-to-ceiling drapery controls the natural light. The entire interior environment—including the walls and the matte floor coating—is enveloped in a single, luminous, soft hue, visually calming the structural boundaries and prioritizing the tactile surfaces of the collection.
